Maroons fall 8-3 to Vipers
The Chatham Maroons dropped an 8-3 decision to the LaSalle Vipers in GOJHL action Thursday night.
In LaSalle, the Vipers and the Maroons were tied at two goals each at the end of the first period. Connor Paronuzzi (9) put the Maroons up 1-0 on a power play goal at the 3:19 mark. David Brown (24) and Liam Doyle (32) picked up the assists.
The Vipers then scored at 4:11 and 16:46 to go up 2-1. Brendan Gouin scored his 10th of the season on an unassisted goal to draw the teams even at 17:08.
The Vipers went up 5-3 by the end of the second frame with LaSalle scoring at 1:34 and 15:02 before Julien Gervais notched his 23rd goal at 18:28. Nate Dowling picked up his 11th assist. The Vipers scored again at 19:34.
LaSalle put the game out of reach by scoring three more in the third.
LaSalle outshot Chatham 56-51. They also scored two power-play goals on eight opportunities, while Chatham scored on one of only two LaSalle penalties.
The Maroons will take on the Rockets in Strathroy on Saturday night before returning home to face the Komoka Kings Sunday night.
