Bluebirds lead semi-final series 3-1 after splitting weekend games

The Tilbury Bluebirds are one win shy of securing a spot in the Western Ontario Super Hockey League final after splitting a pair of games this weekend.
Saturday at home, the Bluebirds beat the Tillsonburg Thunder 6-4.
The Bluebirds looked like they were going to run away with this one, building a 3-1 lead after one period. The Thunder, however, turned the page in the second, scoring three goals to Tilbury’s one.
In the third, the Bluebirds would pour it on, outshooting their opponent 25-8, and scoring a pair of goals for the win.
Bluebirds got a pair of goals from Dylan Denomme, and singles from Jeff Burridge, Evan Weber, Mitch VanTeeling, and David LeBlanc.
Ryan Polidorio was in net for the Birds notching a win on a strong outing.
Sunday in Tillsonburg, the Thunder handed the Bluebirds a 5-3 loss.
The teams were tied after two with a score of 3-3. The Thunder would add two more in the third for the win.
Tilbury’s Vyacheslav Chegrintsev had a pair of goals, with Kade McKibbin potting one. Polidorio took the loss between the posts.
The Bluebirds lead the best-of-seven semi-final series 3-1 with the two teams facing off again for Game 5 in Tilbury on Friday. Puck drop is set for 8 p.m.
