The road to OFSAA gold for UCC

Game 1 — March 6  

UCC started slow but finished the first quarter with the lead and a 76-47 win against St. Mary’s (Kitchener-Waterloo). Every player got to see the court and eight of 10 players scored.

Jaxen Baker finished with 22 points and rested in the fourth quarter.

The gym was full of Chatham faithful for the game.

Game 2 — March 7

A come-from-behind 74-64 victory over #15 seed St. Patricks (Ottawa).

Coach Dunlop said the team was “athletic and very well coached and gave us everything we could handle until the final minutes of the game when we pulled away.”

CJ Roberts and Isiah Dunlop were in foul trouble early, and UCC was down as much as 11 points in the second quarter.

UCC stepped up their defence in the second half and dominated the fourth quarter, leading to the 10-point victory. 

Caleb Roberts led the team with 43 points, while Jaxen Baker had 17.

Game 3 — March 7

UCC won the quarter-final against #7 Eden out of St Catherines 75-66. 

Another slow start, but Isiah Dunlop kept UCC in it early, scoring 10 in the first quarter and finishing with 22 points. 

Caleb Roberts finished the game with 38 points and Jaxen Baker chipped in with 12. 

UCC plays #3 Notre Dame next at 10 a.m. today at Lambton College.  UCC played Notre Dame in the finals of our last tournament of the season a month ago, beating them in a close game.
