Dr. Jack Parry Award Nominees — Ashton Vink
Leading up to the annual Dr. Jack Parry Awards ceremony on June 15, CKSN will celebrate Chatham-Kent’s top student-athletes by featuring each local school’s nominees for 2023.
Ashton Vink has excelled in academics, athletics and community service since arriving at Wallaceburg District Secondary School.
He has been selected as the Tartan “Rookie of the Year” and twice as the “Senior Athlete of the Year”, along with several MVP, coaches’ choice and captain selections.
Ashton was a starter and key contributor to the LKSSAA championship football team. He also qualified for SWOSSAA golf and track and field, as well as OFSAA swimming.
Ashton has been a member of the SAA and Student Council, volunteered at U-Turn Ministries and has coached various minor athletic teams in the community. He is the Valedictorian of this year’s Tartan graduating class. Ashton leaves WDSS with an 88% cumulative average.

Since 1994, Chatham Kent has recognized the top male and female graduating student athletes in each school. At the annual ceremony recognizing these top graduates, one male and one female are awarded the Dr. Parry Award along with a post secondary scholarship.
The award recognizes a balanced high degree of athletic ability, scholastic excellence, and contributions outside of the classroom to the school and community — a balance Dr. Parry himself embodied during his illustrious life.
