Chatham Kent Cougars are holding their fundamental clinic in Chatham on Tuesday at Chatham-Kent Secondary School.

Started in 2008, the Cougars Football League operates under the Chatham-Kent Cougars Football Club and is a “house league” designed to help young athletes (boys and girls) play football in an environment that will develop fundamental football skills, team skills, social skills, physical fitness and most importantly, to have fun. The Cougars Football League provides Chatham-Kent youth an opportunity to play organized tackle football in their own community.

Cougars Minor Football takes place from late August to the beginning of November and is for children aged 7 through 13. For the first time, the league is also allowing 14-15-year-old players as well.

Games are played mainly on Sundays with some night games possible. Games typically take between 1 and 1 ½ hours to play. Most teams practice twice per week (generally on Tuesday and Thursday) with practice dates being set by the coaches based on field availability and conflicts with other sports.

Registration fees are $195 with all equipment, minus cleats and socks, being provided by the Chatham-Kent Cougars Football Club.
