Former Chatham Maroon James McEwan has signed to play with the Kalamazoo Wings (ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Vancouver Canucks).

The team announced that forward James McEwan signed a contract for the 2023-24 season.

McEwan, 26, was acquired by Kalamazoo via trade with the Florida Everblades last February, and he appeared in three games for the K-Wings last season.

The Chatham native played in the OHL for Guelph before he began his professional career with the Orlando Solar Bears before joining Florida for the bulk of the 2022-23 season. He suited up in 28 games for the Everblades, totalling nine points, five goals, four assists and eight penalty minutes.

Before signing with Orlando, McEwan played 59 games for the University of New Brunswick, racking up 24 points and 26 penalty minutes from 2018-22.
