Barnstormers adding to roster

With opening day just over a month away, the Chatham-Kent Barnstormers IBL baseball team is adding to their roster.

Recent additions include:

Robert Mackie

Robert is a 6′-0″ – 205 lbs. infielder who can also help the team from the bullpen. He is from Vancouver, British Columbia. Last season, he played the last portion of the season with the London Majors.

Mackie pitched in nine games with the Majors last season and had an ERA of 6.87. In 2021 with Welland, Mackie pitched in six games and had a 0.87 ERA.

Braxton Haggith.

Braxton is a young outfielder from Glencoe. He is 6′-3″ – 218 lbs. and hits from the left side of the plate. He is currently playing at Minnesota State University in an NCAA Division II program. Last summer he was in the Western Canadian Baseball League playing with the Swift Current 57’s.

Haggith made his debut with Minnesota State on Saturday, and doubled in his only at-bat.

Brian Lui.

Brian is a 28 years old, 5′-11″ – 180 lbs. Left Handed Pitcher from the Toronto area. He has experienced in the IBL, playing with Brantford. and in the Chinese Professional Baseball League, as he played with the Rakuter Monkeys team.

Trent Sillett

Trent’s permanent home is in London, Ontario. He currently goes to school to Goshen College in Indiana where he pursue his major in Biology/Pre-Med. On the field he plays first base.

Sillet is currently second on his team in RBIs (29) and fourth in batting average (.283), starting in all of Goshen’s 35 games.

According to the Barnstormers’ website, the team now has 15 players signed up for the inaugural 2024 season.

The expansion club will make its IBL debut Friday, May 17, in Brantford. The home opener will be Saturday, May 18, against the Kitchener Panthers at Fergie Jenkins Field at Rotary Park at 7:05 p.m.
