Roberts wins gold at Canadian U17 championships

Chatham’s Caleb Roberts helped lead Team Ontario to gold at the Canadian U17 boys basketball championships held earlier this month in Toronto.

Roberts scored 16 points and played a key role in the team’s comeback 93-87 win over British Columbia. Overall, Ontario went 5-0 at the tournament, with Roberts averaging 11.2 points a game.

Roberts led Team Ontario to gold at the 2022 Canadian 15U championship, winning the MVP award in the final after scoring a game-high 18 points.

A six-foot point guard, Roberts is returning to Ridley College in the fall. Last season Roberts was the team’s leading scorer. He is expected to be joined by former Ursuline teammates C.J. Roberts (his younger brother) and Jaxen Baker.
