Delaware Nation’s (Moriviantown) Savana Smith, a freshman at Adrian College, had a strong start to her collegiate golf career, finishing fourth at the Ohio Northern golf tournament on the weekend.

Smith, a Ridgetown District Secondary School graduate, shot 84 and 74 over the two days, finishing with a 158 and a fourth place finish.

Adrian College women’s golf team finished first in the team standings. The Bulldogs smoked the competition by shooting 317 on Sunday and 324 on Monday to a total 641. Adrian defeated the second-place team by 31 strokes.

Smith is the Indigenous Ontario junior girl’s golf champion for the past three consecutive years. An all-around athlete, Smith is relatively new to golf, picking it up during COVID when other sports were shut down.

Adrian College is back in action with a two-day tournament on September 6-7 when they travel to the Kyle Campbell Invitational hosted by The University of Olivet at Medalist Golf Club.
