Three local runners qualify for OFSAA
Chatham-Kent’s Noah VanNeck and Gracie VanderGriendt and Ursuline’s Madeline Verbeek have qualified for the OFSAA cross-country championship.
The three runners qualified at the SWOSSAA meet held at Sarnia’s Canatara Park on Oct. 23.
VanNeck was second in the novice boys 4 km race in 14:02, behind Villanova’s Gianfranco Rauti.
VanderGriendt was third in the junior girls 5 km race in 20:02. She finished just under a minute behind Windsor Massey’s Anieu Chan.
Verbeek was fourth in the novice girls 4km race in 15:45, just 16 seconds behind the first-place finisher.
The top two teams in each division and top five individuals not on those teams go to the OFSAA meet Monday, Nov. 4, in Ottawa.
