Local players playing on GOJHL U18 team
A few members of the Chatham Maroons and a local hockey player who plays for the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL) U18 team at the prestigous St. Andrews College U18 MacPherson tournament being held this weekend.
Named to the team are Chatham Maroon players Liam Campbell, Ian Lachance and Sam Diblasi.
Wallaceburg’s Dracen Campbell, who plays for the Stratford Warriors, also made the team. Former Maroon Cohen Bidgood, who is on the St. Mary’s Lincolns is also on the roster.
Liam Campbell is a Saginaw Spirit draft pick. He has missed time this season due to suspensions, yet is third if GOJHL rookie scoring with 37 points in 30 games. Lachance is also property of Saginaw, as he was picked in the U18 draft. The Timmins resident is in sixth place for GOJHL rookies in points with 34 in 34 games. He is tied for second amongst rookies in goals with 20.
Campbell played last year with the Mooretown Flags. He is having a strong rookie year as a defenceman with Stratford. He has 19 points in 37 games, leading all Stratford defencemen in points.
The GOJHL team will face the Brunswick School, Northwood School and Bishop Kearney before the playoff round begins.
