Schinkelshoek and Branton medal at Euro swim meet

Pain Court’s Gavin Schinkelshoek and Port Lambton’s Shona Branton won medals with the Swim Ontario team at the Euro Meet in Luxembourg
Pain Court’s Gavin Schinkelshoek and Port Lambton Shona Branton, both local swimmers recently attended the Euro Meet 2025 in Luxembourg.
Overall, Branton earned two silver medals, whie Schinkelshoek exploded onto the international swimming scene with four gold medals and a silver.
Branton is a WDSS Tartan alumns and is currently swimming at Western University. Schinkelshoek is currently in Grade 10 at ESPC and swims with the Windsor Aquatic Club.
Branton swam to a silver medal in 50 breast and 100 breast. She also placed ninth in the prelims for the 200 breast.
Schinkelshoek qualified for an A final in 50 back and 100 back, placing 10th in both. He was the youngest swimmer in both of these finals. Based on his times, Gavin also won a youth silver medal in 50 fly and a youth gold medal in 50 back, 50 free, 100 back and 100 free.
This meet involved 17 countries, and the two swimmers were there as part of a team selected by Swim Ontario. In addition to being chosen by Swim Ontario, swimmers must have a minimum time standard to qualify for participation.

The meet is organized so that all swimmers swim together regardless of age. To make an A final, you medals are awarded to the top three in the junior and youth categories using their race times.
