CKSS hockey teams going back to OFSAA

The Chatham-Kent Golden Hawks boys and girls hockey teams will be competing at the OFSAA provincial championships.

Both Golden Hawks teams are going to the OFSAA hockey championships for the second straight year. Like the cover of Lethal Weapon or the Bulls in 96 and 97, they are going back-to-back.

The Golden Hawks girls hockey team earned an OFSAA berth on March 4 with a 5-2 win over the Villanova Wildcats in the SWOSSAA AAA final in LaSalle.

The OFSAA AAA girls hockey tournament will take place in Aurora March 18-20. The tournament’s seeding and schedule has not been released yet.

The Golden Hawks boys team won a SWOSSAA AAA challenge game on March 3, with a 5-1 win over Villanova, in a game played in Chatham. Chatham-Kent will be the second SWOSSAA representative at OFSAA.

Belle River St. Anne is the host of the tournament and won the SWOSSAA AAA title over Chatham-Kent.

The OFSAA AAA boys tournament will be held a short trip down Highway 401 in Lakeshore, March 18-20. Games will be played at the Atlas Tube Centre in Belle River and in Tecumseh.
