Maroons win a high-scoring Game One
Do you like offence? Are you a fan of end-to-end action? Do you have a fever and the only cure is more goals?
Well, we might have what you need. The Chatham Maroons opened up their GOJHL Western Conference quarterfinal playoff with a 9-5 victory in Game One of their best-four-of-seven series with Elmira on Sunday night in front of over 1,000 fans at Memorial Arena.
The Maroons easily led the GOJHL in goals in the regular season with 246. Elmira is no-slouch offensively, as they were eighth in goals in the 23-team league with 194 goals.
The Sugar Kings had the two top point-getters in the regular-season in Joey Martin (85) and Luca Della Croce (78).
In Game One the Maroons were able to keep Martin and Della Croce pointless, which will be key moving forward.
Providing the firepower for the Maroons were Liam Campbell with two goals, and single goals to Cruz Ferguson, Connor Hunt, Dylan Richter, Sean Truby, Brody Gillis and Ian Lachance.
