VanNetten named to all-star team

Ryan VanNetten

What a pickup Ryan VanNetten has been for the Chatham Maroons.

After playing the past two years in the OHL with the Niagara IceDogs, he was going to focus on school and attend Ridgetown College. After meeting and talking with a couple Maroon players who were also attending the college, he joined the team in early October.

VanNetten was named to the GOJHL’s Western Conference all-star team after having a stellar season with the Maroons. In 39 games he had 44 points (six goals, 38 assists).

He was second amongst GOJHL defencemen is scoring,

Not only did VanNetten, who hails from Simcoe, provide offence for the Maroons, but with 174 junior hockey games under his belt, including 129 in the OHL, he was a calming influence in the Maroons’ backend. There is no panic in his game.
