CK Crush introduce program for young hockey players

The Chatham Kent Girls’ Hockey Association (CKGHA) is introducing a program to get young skaters on the ice.

Learn to Skate for U7: Building Skills and Love for the Game

CKGHA is launching a new initiative to welcome young players into the sport with a Learn to Skate program for U7 girls, held Tuesdays from 5:00–6:00 PM at Erickson Arena in Chatham. This program is designed for beginners and focuses on foundational skills.

“The biggest focus will be learning basic skills, learning how to skate, learning how to carry a puck,” said association president Myria Mallette. “You hope that each kid is developing at their own level, but, on top of that, that they’re developing a love for the game.”

Mallette emphasized the importance of fun and engagement: “It’s about fun and learning to love the sport. If we can get the girls to love the sport, then I think that there’ll be more engagement moving forward as they continue to get older.”
