18U Diamonds battle back to win OBA title

The Chatham Diamonds 18U baseball team won the Ontario Baseball Association B title in front of a large crowd of hometown fans at Fergie Jenkins Field on Sunday.

The Diamonds won in the bottom of the eighth inning with a walk-off 7-6 victory over Tillsonburg.

The Diamonds lost their first game 7-6 to Orillia, meaning every game they played was do-or-die.

Chatham ripped off six straight wins to take home the championship.

They beat Brockton 11-1, Leamington 9-3, Kawartha 5-0, Woodstock 16-1 and then Tillsonburg 3-2 to set up the final game.

Twelve teams from across the province took part in the OBA 18U B tournament, with games played in Fergie Jenkins Park, Blenheim and Wallaceburg.
