Formosa looking to move up the bowling ranks

Luca Formosa
Luca Formosa has bowling in his blood.
The 16 year-old John McGregor Secondary School student has spent a lot of his life in a bowling alley.
His grandmother was the manager at Bowlerama and the local pro shop has been in his family for over 20 years, so it should come as no surprise that he has had some success bowling.
In August, Formosa competed in the Teen Masters held in Scarborough. The tournament is designed to test a bowlers skill level, as all bowlers use the same type of bowling ball.
At the end of the final day Formosa was the highest u19 boy finishing 75 pins ahead of the next u19 boy. By winning Teen Masters Canada he earned an invitation to Teen Masters Global in Las Vegas, Nevada in February.
Teen Masters Global will consist of the top 64 u19 boys in the world. Only 16 u19 boys in N orthAmerica have been invited.
Last year Formosa started bowling in the competitive circuits. He started in the Youth Bowling Tour (YBT) in southern Ontario. After finding success, Formosa decided to push himself against better competition across the border in the Great Lakes Jr Gold Tour. The GLJGT hosts events in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Indiana.
During these events Formosa earned a golden ticket to the largest youth bowling tournament in the world; The Junior Gold Championships.
Last seasons Jr Gold Championships were held in Green Bay, WI. Formosa was one of only 12 Canadians taking part and the only Canadian U18 bowler.
The Jr Gold Championships are held over a week and in four different bowling alleys across the state. The u18 boys division had over 1,300 entrants from across North America.
Formosa admits that the tournament didn’t go quite as he had hoped but he came away from it with lots of knowledge to use in the future.
In preparations for his time in Las Vegas, Formosa is competing in this season GLJGT again. He will also be competing in the YBT events in the GTA. In January he plans to also enter the Team Canada Trials for the first time in an attempt to make Team Canada’s Youth Bowling Team.

Very proud of you Luca keep up the good work.
