Blue and White tournament kicks off

Billed as the oldest continuous boys high school basketball tournament in the province and possibly in Canada, the Blue and White tournament takes place today and tomorrow at Chatham-Kent Secondary School and Ursuline College Chatham.

Sixteen teams play this weekend in the annual Chatham Sports Hall of Fame senior boys basketball tournament. Four teams from Chatham (Ursuline, CKSS, Chatham-Christian and John McGregor) are taking part

The championship game is scheduled for tomorrow (Saturday) at 6 p.m. at Ursuline.

In 1968, the Chatham Jaycees began the Blue and White Tournament for boys and continued as a sponsor for the next 36 years. In 2004, when the Jaycees ceased to exist in Chatham, the Hall of Fame became involved and has been the sponsor ever since. In 2018, the tournament celebrated its 50th consecutive year of competition.
