Happy birthday Fergie!

Chatham’s Fergie Jenkins turns 83 today. (December 13)

The former major league pitching star is a member of Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame, Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame, and in 1991 became the first Canadian elected to Baseball’s Hall of Fame in Cooperstown N.Y.

Fun little tidbit about Jenkins: He was appointed the commissioner of the now-defunct Canadian Baseball League in 2003; the league’s Jenkins Cup went missing when the league folded and has been missing ever since.
