Chatham ringette teams have a golden weekend in Burlington

The Chatham Thunder Ringette Association delivered a powerhouse performance this weekend in Burlington, returning home with four gold medals and a statement that Chatham ringette is stronger than ever.

Across multiple age divisions, Thunder teams showed skill, grit, and teamwork, overwhelming some of the top competition in the region and turning the Burlington tournament into a red-and-black celebration.

The U10 Thunder set the tone early, skating to a convincing 9–3 gold-medal victory. The young squad combined speed, smart passing, and relentless pressure to control the game from start to finish.

The momentum continued with the U12 Thunder, who captured gold with a dominant 7–2 win. Their balanced attack and tight defensive play made it clear they were in control all weekend long.

The U16 B team added another championship to the haul, defeating their opponents 8–3 in the gold-medal game. Their aggressive forecheck and sharp execution created scoring chances throughout the matchup and sealed a well-deserved title.

The U16 A Thunder also had an impressive showing, finishing 2–2 in round-robin play against tough competition. Although they narrowly missed out on the gold-medal game, their performance proved they belong among the top teams in the tournament field.

Perhaps the most dramatic moment of the weekend came from the 18+ Thunder squad, who produced a thrilling comeback in the gold-medal game. Trailing 3–1 with just six minutes remaining, the team refused to quit, rallying for three unanswered goals to pull off an unforgettable 4–3 victory and claim gold.

From the youngest skaters to the most experienced players, Chatham teams displayed heart, resilience, and elite-level execution throughout the weekend.

With four gold medals and countless standout performances, the Burlington tournament will be remembered as a defining moment for the Chatham Thunder — a weekend that showcased just how bright the future of ringette is in Chatham-Kent.
