Chatham-Kent Hockey Heroes Update January 18
Chatham’s Tyler Roeszler, a senior forward with Cornell University, had himself quite a weekend against some top-ranked Division I hockey teams. On Jan. 14, Tyler scored two unassisted goals as his Big Red team skated to a 5-1 win over 10th ranked Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The next night, Tyler picked up an assist as his team dropped a 5-1 decision to Union College in ECAC play. Union is currently ranked 14th in national polls. Tyler has eight points (five goals, three assists) in 15 games….
Another Chatham native, Brad Houston, had a goal and an assist as his Adrian College Bulldogs beat the Milwaukee School of Engineering, 6-1, on Jan. 14 in a battle of the two top teams in the Division III Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association. The two teams played to a 2-2 tie the next day…
Chatham’s Brett Vandehogen and Kyle Nishizaki each had a goal and an assist over the weekend as their University of Windsor men’s hockey team won a pair of games. Brett scored his goal in the 3-2 win over Guelph on Jan. 15 while Kyle scored a power-play goal in the 4-0 win over Brock on Jan. 14….
Tilbury’s Kyle Lang picked up an assist in the Brock win….
Chatham’s Brooke Ludolph scored a short-handed goal and the game winner as her University of Windsor Lancers women’s team beat Guelph, 2-1, on Jan. 15….
London Knights forward Seth Griffith of Wallaceburg scored two goals on Jan. 9 as his team beat Sault Ste. Marie, 6-4…
Chatham’s Ryan Jones picked up his 10th goal of the seaon on Jan. 13 as the Edmonon Oilers beat the San Jose Sharks, 5-2, and an assist in a 5-2 loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Jan. 15…
Dresden’s Wes Cunningham had an assist as the Greenville Road Warriors beat the Florida Everblades, 4-1, on Jan. 13….
And, Wallaceburg’s Jamie Vanderveeken is apparently enjoying a change of scenery in the Central Hockey League. Jamie, who was traded from the Rapid City Rush to the Arizona Sundogs earlier this month, scored a short-handed goal in a 6-3 loss to Wichita on Jan. 15. He has one goal and two assists since joining the Sundogs.
