Chatham's Maxwell Allin enjoying strong season at Wilfrid Laurier
He may not be the oldest player on his Wilfrid Laurier basketball team, but Chatham’s Maxwell Allin is playing well beyond his year’s. Early in his second season with WLU, Allin continues to shine impressing his own coaches, and those of the opposition across the province.
In January, Allin was named Wilfrid Laurier University Male Athelte of the Week once, and also compiled a career high 14-assists January, 29 as his Laurier Golden Hawks beat the Brock Badgers 95-90.
Currently, Allin’s Golden Hawks sit second in the OUA West with an 11-5 record. Their 22-points are also good for 4th in the province; success, that is in no small part because of Allin’s play. Currently, Allin sits second on the team in total scoring averaging 14.5 points per game.
Allin’s real talent however, is as a set up man. Through the first 16 games of Wilfird Laurier’s schedule, Allin had more than double the number of assists, than any other player on his team. Allin is average nearly 8-assists per game for a total of 106, while his next closest teammate has only 42 assists.
The former Ursuline College Lancers star and Chatham resident, is quickly becoming one of the most effective players in Ontario University Athletics basketball.
