Making the more than 1,300 kilometre trek to Thunder Bay is a huge investment for one of Chatham-Kent’s smallest high schools, but after their success at the local KCSSAA level, and at the larger SWOSSAA Championships, Ridgetown will be looking to strike gold at OFSAA.

The Ridgetown team which is made up of Crawford McKinlay, Billy Biren, Rob Ingram, and Willi Boldt, defeated Chatham-Kent Secondary School in both the Kent and SWOSSAA Finals.

Unlike many other sports, curling is an “open” event meaning school’s of all sizes compete against each other. This means the school of roughly 300 students from Ridgetown, could be competing against school’s with 3000 students.

In pool play, top ranked Ridgetown will place Malvern Collegiate, London Central, Sir Winston Churchill, and Fort Frances to decide whether or not they will advance to the playoff rounds.

Continue to follow CKSN for more curling updates as Ridgetown competes in the 2011 OFSAA competition in Thunder Bay.
