Tyler Roeszler Scores Twice as Cornell Advances

Chatham’s Tyler Roeszler picked up three assists over the weekend as his Cornell Big Red men’s hockey team won its best-of-three ECAC quarter final series against Quinnipiac University. On March 11, Tyler assisted on both of his team’s goals as they won 2-1. However, Quinnipiac stormed back the next night, shutting out the Big Red, 1-0. Tyler’s third assist came on his team’s second goal, tying the game on March 13 and sending it into overtime, where Cornell scored the winner and won 3-2. Cornell will now meet Dartmouth College in the semi-final round…
Fellow Chatham native, Brad Houston, and his Adrian College Bulldogs are advancing to the finals of the Division III men’s hockey tournament in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on March 25 after they beat Elmira College, 5-3, on March 12. They will face Oswego State. Brad scored a goal and had an assist in the Elmira win…Wallaceburg’s Seth Griffith picked up two assists last week for the London Knights in losing efforts. He had one assist in a 5-1 loss to Guelph on March 11 and a helper in a 5-2 loss to Owen Sound on March 12….
In the pro ranks, Chatham’s Ryan Jones is becoming a scoring machine for his injury-depleted Edmonton Oilers. Ryan had the lone goal in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Detroit Red Wings on March 11 and the only marker in a 5-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on March 13. Ryan is now the second leading goal scorer for the Oilers with 16 goals for the season….
Dresden’s Wes Cunningham had another strong points week. On March 12, he picked up an assist in a 4-3 loss to the Florida Everblades, but the Greenville Road Warriors came back strong the next day, beating the Everblades, 6-5. Wes had a goal and two assists in that game….
Fellow Dresden native, T.J. Brodie, had an assist as his Abottsford Heat beat Wilkes-Barrie Scranton, 5-4, on March 12….
Wallaceburg’s Jamie Vanderveeken had two assists as his Arizona Sundogs beat Rio Grande Valley, 5-4 on March 10.
