Lambton Shores Predators President and General Manager Roop Chanderdat announced today that long time Wallaceburg Lakers head coach Mark Davis will be taking over as head coach of the Junior B hockey club next season.

Davis has coached for over 25 years and has a long history of championships including multiple Western Ontario Junior B Hockey League titles with Sarnia and Petrolia, two Great Lakes Junior C Championships with Wallaceburg and Mooretown, and an OMHA and Silver Stick championship coaching a Wallaceburg Midget team.

“I’m very proud and excited to be with the Predators,” said Davis.

Davis, who is also a Wallaceburg Sports Hall of Fame Inductee, recognizes he is leaving a strong organization in the Wallaceburg Lakers, for one that is in a rebuilding mode, but he still expects to win immediately, “I am looking forward to the challenge of coaching and moving the Predators to a playoff position in the 2011-2012 season.”

“This is another step in building a strong program, said Predators President and GM Roop Chanderdat, “Mark’s experience and work ethic should help or organization move forward.”

Davis guided the Wallaceburg Lakers to their first ever regular season title in 2010-2011, however the team was upset by the Wheatley Sharks in the second round of the Great Lakes Junior C Playoffs. Davis coached the Lakers to their only league championship in 1998-99.

Last season, the Lambton Shores Predators finished last overall in the Western Conference of the Greater Ontario Junior B Hockey League with only 4 wins and 9 points in 51 games finishing 41 points behind the next closest team.
