After a strong second half  in the OHL and his recent selection to the Team Canada U-18 World Championship team, Wallaceburg’s Seth Griffith slid down one position in the final NHL Central Scouting Draft Rankings. Ranked 157th among North American skaters at the mid-season release, Griffith fell one spot to 158th overall.

The ranking places Griffith as a late round prospect, who could potentially fall out of the NHL draft picture all together as his ranking at 158th does not include players from Europe, or any goaltenders.

The rankings however, were completed before Griffith’s selection to the Team Canada U-18 squad where he has the opportunity to showcase his skills against world class competition. As well, his impressive playoff performance in which he led the London Knights in scoring undoubtedly helped his NHL draft chances, but may not have been reflected in this final Central Scouting rating. With a strong performance at the U-18 tournament, Griffith has the opporunity to skyrocket up the draft list and hear his name called sooner rather than later at the June 22 NHL Entry Draft.

Seth Griffith and Team Canada begin their U-18 World Championships Friday against the Czech Republic in Dresden, Germany. Prior to this, Team Canada has two more exhibition games against Sweden and Germany.
