Whitson Has Another Multiple Point Game at the World Sledge Hockey Challenge
For the second straight game, Chatham’s Derek Whitson put up multiple points for Team Canada at the World Sledge Hockey Challenge in London, Ontario, as Canada defeated Japan 12-0.
Tuesday, Whitson scored a goal and added two assists for Canada in a lopsided 14-0 victory over Norway. In Canada’s first game, a 3-1 win over the USA, Whitson was held scoreless.
In Wednesday night’s game against Japan, Whitson assisted on goals from Steve Arsenault, Billy Bridges, and Scott Karrasch.
After easily defeating Japan in the preliminary round, Derek Whitson and his Canadian teammates will face Japan again in the Semi-Finals as Canada finished 1st and Japan finished 4th in the preliminary standings.
The winner of that game will move on to play with the United States or Norway for gold at the World Sledge Hockey Challenge. The semi-final games will take place Friday, with the Bronze and Gold Medal games on Saturday. All games are being played at the Western Fair Sports Centre in London, Ontario.
