Some names such as Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Adam Larsson, and Gabriel Landeskog, are sure fire first round draft picks for this Friday’s NHL Draft, however for other’s, including Wallaceburg’s Seth Griffith, they’ll have to wait long after the glitter and glam of Canadian television turn their lights down to hopefully hear their names called.

Griffith, who starred for the OHL’s London Knights this season, finished near the top of his London Knights team in regular season scoring with 22 goals and 40 assists in 68 games, and led the Knights in playoff scoring with 3 goals and 4 assists in 6 games.

“Hopefully I get drafted, but anything can happen, and I’ll keep working hard on my game either way,” Griffith told CKSN when asked about the NHL Draft in an interview last month.

Griffith is ranked the 158th skater in North America by Central Scouting, a position many consider to be drastically low considering the outstanding playoff Griffith had with the London Knights, followed by a solid performance as a member of Team Canada Under-18 squad at the World Under-18 Hockey Championships in Germany.

The NHL Draft gets underway live on TSN Friday June 24 at 7pm Eastern Time, with the first round being televised. The bulk of the draft (rounds 2-7) however, which could potentially see Griffith selected, will get underway Saturday morning at 11am in Minnesota.
