Will Andy Fantuz Get the Ball Monday?

It’s not Monday night football like a mid-season battle, but Andy Fantuz will make his Monday night debut this week with the Chicago Bears when they face the New York Giants.

Last week in Fantuz’ first NFL preseason game however, he wasn’t pulling down passes like he did last year as the CFL’s leading receiver, in fact, he didn’t get a single ball thrown to him. Rather, the Chatham, Ontario native only saw the field in a special teams role, something he has not had to do in the past.

NBC Chicago reported Wednesday however, that Andy Fantuz is currently sitting 4th on the Chicago Bears receivers depth chart, a position that would see him stick with the team, and likely be a regular part of their arsenal. This despite rampant rumours circulating the internet about Fantuz’ chances of making the Chicago Bears.

Although there is no guarantee Andy Fantuz will get an opportunity to play a receiving role in Monday’s 8:00pm game against the New York Giants, it would seem logical that the former Saskatchewan Roughriders star will see passes directed his way this preseason.

Chicago won their first preseason game 10-3 over the Buffalo Bills, while the Giants lost 20-10 to the Carolina Panthers.

For Canadian viewers, Monday’s game featuring Andy Fantuz with the Chicago Bears will be televised at 8:00pm on TSN.
