Major Bantam Chatham-Kent Cyclones Ready to Roll
The Chatham-Kent AAA Major Bantam Cyclones will kick off their regular season this coming weekend at the Toronto Red Wing Early Bird Tournament which runs 8-11 September 2011 at the Westwood Arena in Toronto.
This tournament features 39 teams and many of the top Major Bantam (97’s) AAA team from Ontario and other major AAA organizations including New York, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Illinois.
The Cyclones begin the tournament with two games Friday facing the Mississauga AAA Reps and then later that same day the highly touted York Simcoe Express.
On Saturday the Chicago Young Americans and the Ottawa Jr. 67’s will be their challenge.
Results determine when or if they get to move on to the Sunday playoff rounds.
Thus far the Bantam Cyclones are 2 and 2 in their exhibition play including two wins over Lambton Jr. Sting and two losses against another very highly touted Detroit Belle Tire AAA team. Although both were losses, Chatham-Kent had two very solid team efforts behind the net keeping of Brendan Johnston and Alex Carriere. The team is under the guidance of new Head Coach Brent Daugherty. The Major Bantam Cyclones will host their first home game opponents of the season on the 17th and 18th September against the Waterloo Wolves on Saturday the 17th 2:30 pm Chatham Memorial Arena, and Lambton Jr. Sting on the Sunday, 18th 5:00 pm at Bothwell arena.
