Wallaceburg’s Seth Griffith became well respected this season as one of the best players in the OHL. Saturday in the London Knights’ opening game of the Memorial Cup against the defending champion Saint John Sea Dogs, Griffith asserted himself as one of the best scorers in the country.

Griffith finished the opening game with a goal and two assists powering London to a 5-3 win over Saint John.

With the score tied 1-1 in the first, Griffith fed linemate Vladislav Namestnikov who buried his first goal of the tournament to put London up 2-1 after one.

In the second, Griffith put his Knights up by two scoring from Tyler Ferry and Austin Watson.

Then late in the game, with Saint John down only 4-3, Griffith helped set up Namestnikov again, this time on the powerplay, with less than a minute to go in the game to put London up 5-3, the way the game would finish.

London takes on host Shawinigan Sunday night at 7:00pm.
