Football Kicks Off KCSSAA High School Season

WDSS-vs-CKSS-Red-Feather-FootballHigh school students are back in the classroom, on the field, and courts September 3, with football kicking off the 2013-2014 KCSSAA schedule.

Friday, September 13, the defending champion Wallaceburg Tartans will host the John McGregor Panthers at 3:45pm. Wallaceburg has graduated several top athletes in recent years including Jonah Pataki who will play OUA football for the Queens University Gaels this season, and Lee Purnell and Dan Fox, who will play CJFL football for the AKO Fratman and London Beefeaters respectively. McGregor’s Alex Goldoni is in camp with the Western Mustangs, while Erich Demars will suit up with the University of Waterloo.

Later that night, the Chatham-Kent Secondary School Golden Hawks will host the Ursuline Lancers under the lights at CKSS at 7pm. CKSS also has multiple alumni moving on to CIS football including Clark Green (Concordia University), Tanner Emery (Carleton University), Ben Bartlett (University of Ottawa), and Connor Martin (Western University). UCC’s Max Fantuz is committed to play with the Windsor Lancers.

The following week, a full slate of Junior and Senior Girls basketball gets underway.

The Kent Golf championships are the first major event to wrap up, being held September 17 at the Links of Kent in Chatham.
