Former Maroon Delmore Starting First Season With Sting
Delmore played for the Chatham Maroons in 1992-1993, scoring 25 points in 47 games as an underage defender, before going on to play for the Sarnia Sting of the OHL, and play close to 300 NHL games with four teams.
“Andy joins us after 16 seasons as a professional hockey player including parts of 7 seasons in the NHL,” said Sarnia Sting head coach Trevor Letowski in a team news release. “He will be a valuable asset to our players in particular our defensemen as someone who played the position at the highest level there is.”
The Sarnia Sting begin their 2013-2014 OHL season September 20 by hosting the Oshawa Generals, before travelling to Windsor September 26 to play the Spitfires. The next night, the Erie Otters, featuring Thamesville’s Dane Fox, play in Sarnia.
Last season, the Sarnia Sting finished with a 35-28-1-4 record, good for third in the West Division, but the team revamped their coaching staff over the offseason. This is Delmore’s first major coaching position.
