Five Questions With Brett Bowman
Brett Bowman is a 19-year-old hockey player from Wheatley, Ontario. A nursing student at St. Clair College, Bowman is entering his third full season with the Wheatley Sharks.
A graduate of Leamington District Secondary School and Soupoint Minor Hockey, Bowman is currently one of the leading scorers for the Wheatley Sharks of the Great Lakes Junior C Hockey League.
Here are Brett Bowman’s answers to CKSN’s Five Questions:
1. What is your career sports highlight/top memory?
In midget playing for Southpoint versus St. Thomas in the first round of playoffs going to game 5 was unreal. The biggest crowd I’ve played in front of at the Unico Arena in Leamington. It was quite an experience.
2. Who is your favourite professional sports team and athlete?
Detroit Red Wings and Miguel Cabrera
3. If you could achieve one thing/goal in sports, what would it be?
It would be to win the Schmaltz Cup.
4. Who has been your biggest sports influence and why?
My biggest influence in sports would have to be my Dad always telling me how it was and I could depend on him for him to tell me how I played a specific game and It meant a lot more than saying, “ya you played great.” Most times I don’t want to hear that because I was looking to get better and for me to go from house league to Junior in 3 years was pretty special for me because that was my goal and I just hope that I inspired other kids out there to not give up on there goal in life because anything can be achieved if you work hard at it.
5. What do you love most about playing sports?
I love sports because you create relationships with people that will be there forever; with your teammates, coaches, and other players around the league. In sports you live for the moments of scoring that winning goal in the playoffs or to celebrate with teammates after winning a hard fought series. It’s just the amazing feeling you get when achieving something in sports.
