Wallaceburg’s Seth Griffith had his best professional game Saturday night, scoring a goal and assisting on the game winner for the Providence Bruins.

Griffith’s performance, which earned him the Third Star of the game, helped lift Providence to a 5-4 win over the Manchester Monarchs and gave the rookie 4-points in his first 3 professional games.

Jason Missiaen backed up All-Star Henrik Lundqvist Saturday night, dressing in his first NHL game as his New York Rangers were downed 4-0 by the New Jersey Devils.

At the Junior hockey level, the Chatham Maroons shutout the Lambton Shores Predators 5-0. Eric Palazzolo had 2 goals for the Maroons, while captain Michael Verboom had 1 goals and 3 assists in the win. Darien Ekblad made 15-saves in the win, while Connor Doran and James McEwan had the other Chatham Maroons goals.

In the Great Lakes Junior C loop, the Wheatley Sharks came from behind to beat the Mooretown Flags 6-5 on the road Saturday. Tilbury’s Eric Rivard had 2 goals and an assist in the win, while Brendon Anger and Jon Woelk each had a goal and 2 assists. Mike Reid and Lucas Raffoul had the other Wheatley markers.
