Thunder Undefeated, Maroons Win Ringette Night
The Riverview Bingo Chatham Thunder Ringette Novice Travel team stamped their authority on the London Lynx with a 14-1 victory on the road this past weekend. The win cements Chatham on top of the table at 5-0-0.
The win saw Faith Koning with a hat trick. Not to be outdone, older sister Gloria Koning chipped in with 2 goals of her own and an assist. Leah Day was rock solid on defence earning game star while her defensive line partner Sophie Horban pressed forward with 2 goals. Martina Legere and Kaitlyn Warner also had 2 goals a piece, while Helena Anderson showed her offensive skills up front, also scoring a goal. Other goals went to Analise Legere and Kaitlyn Sammon.
Goalie Avery Haines continued her stunning form between the pipes.
Trying to match their output, the Chatham Maroons picked up a huge victory on Chatham Ringette Night, in front of a large group of ringette players, Sunday at Memorial Arena.
The Maroons trounced the Lambton Shores Predators 10-2. Rookie 16-year-olds Brendan Johnston and James McEwan stole the show for Chatham, as McEwan had two goals and two assists and Johnston made 23 saves in the victory.
Kyle Brothers added to his Western Conference leading totals with a goal and two assists, and Tanner Ferguson had two goals and an assist, while Nate Pietens scored twice, and Brayden Hopkins collected an incredible five assists.
Other Chatham Maroons goal scorers were Blayne Oliver, Adam Arseneault, and Trevor Richardson.
Chatham will travel to LaSalle this Wednesday, before hosting the St. Marys Lincolns Thursday November 21.
