Chatham-Kent Sports Year in Review: November
Below are the top sports highlights from CK Sports in November 2013:
- Sydnee Nolan Wins OUA title – Chatham’s Sydnee Nolan won an OUA rugby title as a member of the Queens Gaels, and also grabbed a CIS bronze.
- Pataki Named OUA All-Rookie – Wallaceburg’s Jonah Pataki finished a solid OUA football regular season with the Queens University Gaels, being named an OUA All-Rookie Team member.
- Brothers Player of the Month – For the second straight month, a Chatham Maroons forward was named the GOJHL Western Conference Offensive Player of the Month, as new acquisition Kyle Brothers took the honour.
- UCC Lancers Win Kent Volleyball – In a dramatic final, the UCC Lancers won the Kent Senior Boys volleyball title over eventual OFSAA champions, the CKSS Golden Hawks.
- Basketball, Football Champions Crowned – In a busy day of high school girls basketball and boys football, several champions were crowned from every level of Kent basketball and football.
- Marlatt Great Lakes Player of the Month – 16-year-old rookie Drew Marlatt of Chatham, was named the Great Lakes Junior C Player of the Month after starring with the Blenheim Blades.
- Football MVPs Named – Jack Cavanagh, Anthony Cunha, and Carter Claridge were named Kent football MVPs.
- Golden Hawks Win OFSAA – The CKSS Golden Hawks Senior Boys volleyball team won their second consecutive OFSAA ‘AAA’ volleyball gold medal.
- Fantuz Falls Short – Chatham’s Andy Fantuz fell short of his Grey Cup bid with the Hamilton Tiger Cats, losing to the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
- Allin Eclipses Milestone – Chatham’s Max Allin passed the 1500 career point milestone with the OUA’s Wilfrid Laurier University Golden Hawks.
