Dresden Kings Fire Head Coach Marc Swayze
After their 3-2 loss to the Wallaceburg Lakers Wednesday, the Kings parted ways with head coach Marc Swayze. Swayze has been the Kings’ head coach since 2011 after a tenure with the Chatham Maroons.
“We were in a spiral, and had to make a change,” said Dresden Kings president Dave Cameron. “We made a few trades, but it wasn’t enough, so it was time for a change, and in hockey, that starts with the coach.”
Cameron said that no replacement for Swayze has officially been named, but a new head coach would be in place before Friday’s game.
In his time with the Dresden Kings, Swayze led the club to two consecutive Great Lakes semi-final playoff series, winning the opening round over Blenheim each time.
Through 28 games, Dresden sits with an 8-17-2-1 record, and are currently second last in the Great Lakes league, ahead of only Wallaceburg.
