Fox Closing In On 50-in-50 After Signing NHL Contract
After being passed over in two NHL drafts, Fox, a 20-year-old OHL overager, was signed last week by the NHL’s Vancouver Canucks as a free agent, and is now approaching the 50-goal mark in the OHL.
Last Friday, Fox exploded for 4 goals and an assist in an Erie win over Owen Sound, being named the games first star, and improving his OHL goal scoring totals to 46 goals in 40 games. Fox is the OHL leader in goals, owning over 10 goals more than his next closest competitor, and has sat in the top 2 in scoring for much of the season.
In November, Fox was the OHL’s Player of the Month.
Now, with the return of a few key stars to the Erie Otters lineup following the World Junior Hockey Championships, Fox and his Erie Otters will turn their focus on an OHL title and a spot in the Memorial Cup this year when it arrives in London, Ontario.
The Erie Otters currently sit first overall in the OHL. Fox will have a chance to break the 50 goal mark this week as the Otters travel to play Barrie and Owen Sound this Thursday and Friday, before hosting the Windsor Spitfires Sunday.
