It was back to school, and back to winning early for the Chatham-Kent Golden Hawks Junior Boys basketball team, as they captured gold at their home tournament over the weekend.

CKSS defeated East Elgin 52-43 in the gold medal final, topped by Pierce Johnson’s 22-points in the final. Johnson had a strong tournament averaging 12-points per game.

Ashton Baker was the team’s leading scorer over the weekend, averaging 15-points per game, including two 19-point performances.

The Golden Hawks resume regular season play this coming Thursday when they visit the Ursuline College Lancers. CKSS currently sits undefeated, with a 4-0 record in league play, and defeated UCC 70-41 the last time they met.
