Jamieson Tour Ready To Roll Through Chatham-Kent

Jamieson-Junior-Golf-TourThe Jamieson Junior Golf Tour had its annual qualifier at Fox Glen earlier this week, and will prepare again to make stops this season in Blenheim and Ridgetown with several local golfers participating in the tour.

Approximately 90 Junior and Collegiate golfers teed off looking to earn a spot on the tour at Fox Glen in the tour’s four divisions; junior girls and boys, and collegiate men and women.

In the junior girls’ division Megan Schauer won with an 83. The cut line was 99 and better. Blenheim’s Nara Suno, Belle River’s April Lesperance who plays out of Blenheim, Chatham’s Kennedy Boersma and Julia Moretto all participated in the qualifier.

Moretto finished tied for second shooting an 84.

In the junior boys division Greg Fera took honours with a fine 72. The cutline was 90 and better. Dresden’s Nicolas Stanley, Wallaceburg’s Andrew Reaume, Blenheim’s Owen Dorssers, Morpeth’s Sean Friedrich, and Ridgetown’s Carson McKinlay, Drew Neville, and Jakob Wanger all participated.

Wanger finished tied for second with 75, while Reaume was fourth with a 76.

In the rapidly expanding and hotly contested Collegiate Mens’ division Robert Favaro prevailed with a 1 under 69. The cut line was 81 and better.

All Collegiate women qualified through exemptions and did not compete in the qualifier.

The tour will make stops in Blenheim June 14 to open the 2014 schedule, and Ridgetown July 23.
