Junior Hawks Golden
Facing the UCC Lancers in the ‘AAA-AAAA’ final, the Golden Hawks fell behind in the first game losing 25-15 to UCC. CKSS fought back winning the next two games 25-21 and 25-17.
In what could be a deciding fourth game, UCC edged the Golden Hawks 25-23 setting up a fifth and final set. In the fifth game of the match, CKSS pulled off the win, beating UCC 15-13 to capture the LKSSAA title.
“The girls have come a long way over the season,” said coach Tara Pettipiece of her team’s season and LKSSAA victory. “They have meshed as a team, which showed in our final. They have a never give up attitude, shown by Logan and Jana Kucera’s amazing recovery of a shanked ball. They knew it was going to be a close, tough match, but they remained focussed and got the job done.”
The CKSS Golden Hawks will now advance to face Riverside in the SWOSSAA Championship. The school’s will play Wednesday at 5 pm at CKSS.
