Local Sports Briefs: July 7, 2015
- Walpole Island’s Jewelian Blackbird will be wearing the Canadian Maple Leaf for two upcoming competitions as she will be competing in the Pan Am Taekwondo Youth Open in Chicago in August and then travelling to Mexico for the Pan Am Open
- Camden Fisher of Wallaceburg brought home a Gold medal from the Royal Canadian Legion Ontario Track and Field Championships. Fischer won the Midget Boys Shot Put with a throw of 13.27m.
- Felix Marchand also brought home a gold medal from the Youth Boys Octathalon.
- The Wallaceburg Boys-Under 16 boys played to a 2-2 draw with North London under the lights last night in London. Aiden Lachine and Justin Murphy scored for Wallaceburg.
- The Chatham-Kent Cougars had a tough weekend against the Twin Cities Predators. Twin cities scored a sweep of the Cougars by beating the Senior Varsity squad 9-3, taking down the Junior Varsity team 59-14, edging the Bantam Cougars 16-14 and blanking the Pee Wee Cougars 33-0.
- In Weekend Baseball action The Chatham Jr. Diamonds hosted a tournament and were 3-0 in pool play but ran against a tough Martingrove team from Toronto in the semi-finals losing 10-0. Martingrove went on to win the championship.
- The Major Bantam Wolverines from Chatham split a twin bill with Windsor Walker Home Sites Hawks. Windsor won the opener 7-3 and Chatham won the second game 8-3 on Sunday.
