Junior Hawks Soar To Second Tournament Win
“We (the coaches) are looking forward to a great season with these girls,” said coach Jessica Rowden. “This past weekend the girls went undefeated again winning the championship in Kitchener. These girls move the ball well and are unselfish players. This weekend was a prime example of that where each player scored points. We are very proud of the girls so far.”
During pool play, the CKSS girls defeated Kitchener Collegiate 36-18, Eastwood Collegiate 36-3, Resurrection 32-12, and Sir John A MacDonald 41-21to finish first in their pool.
They then beat Southwood Secondary 33-6 in the semis to advance to the finals where they faced Resurrection again, and won 40-18 to claim the championship.
Top scorers over the weekend included Jessica Jordan with 38 points, Avia Stone with 37, Taryn Dudley with 20 and Jessica Conrod with 18 points.
The tournament win was the second straight for the CKSS Golden Hawks Junior girls as CKSS won the Sarnia Northern tournament the weekend prior.
Congrats girls!
