A quartet of local hockey players, Payton Sabourin, Emma Gorski, Kaitlyn Isaac and Rachel Benn will compete this summer, representing their region, at the Ontario Summer Games.

Gorski, a Wallaceburg product, played for the Midget ‘AA’ Chatham Outlaws this year as a bantam aged netminder. She helped her team to a Lower Lakes Championship, and will advance this year to play in the PWHL with the Barrie Jr. Sharks. Gorski also backstopped the Chatham-Kent Secondary School Golden Hawks.

Sabourin, of Chatham, spent last season with the Bantma ‘AA’ Chatham Outlaws, and also played for the CKSS Golden Hawks. She will compete this season with the Midget ‘AA’ Outlaws.

Walpole Island’s Kaitlyn Isaac is a grade ten student at WDSS and played Midget ‘AA’ for the Sarnia Lady Sting as a bantam-aged skater. Isaac represented Team Ontario at the National Aboriginal Championships and played alongside the previously mentioned Emma Gorski in Europe for the West Coast Selects.

Benn, also a Chatham product, similarly played for the Bantam ‘AA’ Outlaws. Benn is a student at Ecole Secondaire de Pain Court.

The Ontario Summer Games will take place from August 11-14 in Mississauga, Ontario this year. The event includes 34 sports.
