The UCC Lancers capped off a dominant LKSSAA senior girls rugby season, defeating the Northern Vikings to claim the LKSSAA championship.

The Lancers defeated Northern 32-10 with tries from Janelle Segeren (2), Pyper Copeland, Britney Goodhand, and Mackenna Crombez (2).

“Our senior squad faced an awesome Northern team that had a completely new defensive system than what we saw two weeks ago,” said coach Jeff Phaneuf.

“It took a while to adjust to it as we haven’t faced that system ever, but with a little bit of advice and planning the kids executed the plan like pros. We have a tremendous amount of skill and rugby knowledge on the squad this year and we want to see that translate into a first round win at OFSSA.”

UCC finished atop the LKSSAA standings with a perfect 4-0 regular season record.

They beat CKSS 35-0 in the semi-final.

UCC advances to OFSAA May 29-31.

The UCC Lancers Junior Girls also won LKSSAA, defeating Sarnia St. Patrick’s 10-5 with tries by Lexeia Forgie and Makara VanDusen.
