CHATHAM MAROONS WIN SUTHERLAND CUP

The Chatham Maroons beat the St, Catharines Falcons 6-3 on Sunday night in St. Catharines to win the Sutherland Cup.
The Maroons won the best-of-seven Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League Sutherland Cup final series four games to two.
Chatham jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second period, scoring four goals in just over three minutes. The Falcons scored three goals to make it 4-3, but Chatham scored two empty-net goals to seal the victory.
Connor Hunt and Carter Chadwick each scored two goals for the Maroons, with Eamon Edgar and Noah Mattieson each scoring single goals.
Chadwick, a rookie forward from Cobourg, was named the MVP of the GOJHL playoffs.
This is the second time the Maroons have won the Sutherland Cup, as they previously won in 1999.
First awarded in 1934, the Sutherland Cup is emblematic of Junior ‘B’ supremacy in the Ontario Hockey Association
