Branton wins bronze at FISU World University Games

Port Lambton’s Shona Branton won a bronze medal in the women’s 100 metre breaststroke at the FISU World University Summer Games held in Germany on Wednesday.

Branton finished behind Emma Lebron Weber from the United States (gold), and Poland’s Barbara Anna Mazurkiewicz (silver).

Earlier in the week, Branton finished sixth in the women’s 50 metre breaststroke.

A Wallaceburg District Secondary School grad, Branton has had a decorated career swimming for Western University, where she was named the school’s female athlete of the year twice.

Branton also is scheduled to race Wednesday in the women’s 4×100-metre medley relay.
