Whitson earns silver medal at para hockey women’s silver medal

Chatham’s Derek Whitson left with a silver medal at the inaugural para hockey women’s world championship held this past weekend in Dolny Kubin, Slovakia.
Whitson, 36, was Canada’s associate coach.
Canada lost to the United States 7-1 in the gold-medal game. Six teams, Canada, United States, Britain, Australia, Norway and Team World, took part.
Whitson is a decorated former Paralympian, playing in two Winter Paralympics, winning bronze at the 2014 Games. His wife, Tara Chisholm, is the Team Canada coach.
